Family Business

HelveticaHaircutfinished2

Back in 2012 I began a TS fanfic story called Family Business and Helvetica was inspired to draw this picture based on a scene from its opening chapter.  Six years later it’s finally finished and at 72,400 words is the longest single story I’ve ever written.

Summary: Jim Ellison is dead. His body was recovered from his home. Simon Banks gave the eulogy. Blair helped carry the coffin out of the church.

But Jim is actually alive, and Blair is going to find out what’s going on if it kills him. (It might.) Jim has his own troubles, and he wants Blair safe and sound. If he needs to be cruel to ensure that? Jim will do whatever gets the job done.

A Gaslight Friendship

This story was written with my Starsky and Hutch pseud, Dale Gardener, and so is, surprise, a Starsky and Hutch story.  I wrote this for the 2011 Big Bang and as a Big Bang includes both story and art my art was done by BDonna aka Sonja in S&H fandom. She has graciously allowed me to post her three pieces of manip art that went with that story.

London, 1840. Dr Kenneth Hutchinson meets David Starsky, an actor. A close friendship soon develops, but Starsky is troubled by Hutch’s friend, Jack Mitchell, and the disturbing events which follow his arrival. AU. Slash story. Some violent and sexual content, although not in combination.

A Thin Strand of Winter

Notes: This story was written for the 2011 Big Bang for The Sentinel fandom.  The quotes book-ending the story are from the song Last Year’s Shoes by the Muttonbirds.

Summary: After the events of ‘The Sentinel by Blair Sandburg’, Blair turns down the detective’s badge. Jim comes to a hard decision of his own. This story features beautiful art by Helvetica.

Small Town Start

Small Town Start is a set of three stories that began with a picture by Helvetica.  I wrote an AU where Grace Ellison took Jim with her when she left her husband, and where Blair is only a couple of years younger than Jim rather than the at least seven years of the tv show.

This is one of the pictures that inspired me:

Having written a story based on Helvetica’s pictures, we turned full circle when she drew pictures for stories I wrote to continue in this setting for the 2010 The Sentinel Big Bang.  All three stories, and the pictures that Helvetica drew to illustrate them are under the cut.

A Tale of Fortuna

fortuna-title-white

This story was written in 2009, for a fan charity auction for an animal park in California.

Summary: Jim is travelling home on furlough from his service as a knight of Fortuna when he meets a fellow knight in a tavern and finds himself drawn to the young man. It would have been only an evening’s diversion, but terrifying events at a nearby village must be investigated.  This story contains sexual and violent content.

A work in progress

My friend Elaine is giving up her slashzone site which means I need somewhere to put my fanfic stories, most especially the stories that contain art drawn for me by Helvetica/Teddy/MakeDeathLoveMe for the tv show The Sentinel.

Helvetica was badly affected by Photoshop’s changes to its TOS, and she is happy for me to host art related to my fanfic and has emailed me to confirm her agreement.  This means that this site will eventually host A Tale of Fortuna, the Small Town Start series, Chrysalis, and A Thin Strand of Winter.  I also hope to host work by Starsky and Hutch artist BDonna that she did for my Starsky and Hutch Big Bang story, if she offers me permission.
